What is a power optimizer?
A power optimizer is a small DC-DC converter fitted to the back of each solar panel. It performs maximum-power-point tracking (MPPT) at the module level, then hands optimised DC to a single central inverter. In practice: every panel produces its own maximum output regardless of what the panels next to it are doing.
When is a power optimizer worth it in Cyprus?
On a simple rooftop with one orientation and no shading, a plain string inverter delivers the same yield at a lower cost. Optimizers earn their keep on roofs with partial shading (chimneys, neighbouring buildings, palm trees), on multi-face arrays (east + west + south panels sharing an inverter), and on any installation where per-panel monitoring and safe rapid-shutdown are important.
